The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season presents a large cast of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the creator commented recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
